Calgary homeless getting drunk on burned LPs
CALGARY (mytelus.com) - Skid row alcoholics are heating LP records so they can drink the alcohol that blushes on to the surface, said a volunteer working with homeless alcoholics and an AADAC nurse.
According to the two independent sources, who asked for anonymity, only a couple of tablespoons of the effluent are required to make the hardened alcoholics drunk.
But the young addicts can often die of heart attacks from it because they dont have sufficient tolerance built up in their bodies to withstand the toxins and alcohol, the nurse said.
The latter source said the practice dates back at least 20 years but it is undergoing a revival, the volunteer added.
