CREEM ONLINE: Rock-A-Rama Raview
"Mott The Hoople Live [30th Anniversary Edition]
2004 Columbia UK
To quote Ben Edmonds' CREEM review of Mott's Hoople LP 30 years ago, MTH was 'a band that could probably please me just by farting with the slightest degree of sincerity.' And while the thought (and smell) of a gassy Overend Watts may not reek of rock 'n' roll as much as Mr. Edmonds may have thought in 1974, the fact remains that Mott The Hoople were probably the best live act seven bucks could buy a teenager anywhere that year.
The problem was their new Mott Live long player was a half-assed chop job splitting two different shows on each side, short-changing fans with an oddball song selection, muddy production and sorely missing any tracks from their then-current release The Hoople.
Well, all that has now changed with the 30th anniversary release of Mott The Hoople Live.
